Really apocalyptic?Reader comment on item: Debating the Iran Deal Submitted by Fabio (Qatar), Apr 27, 2015 at 01:47 Yes, I have serious doubts on whether the Tehran regime has this "end of days" worldview. They have given serious indications that they are ready to be very careful, though power-hungry. On the other side, the atheist regime in Soviet Union had its "apocalyptic" people. What we know about the conversations in Moscow during the Cuban missile crisis indicates that some people advising Khrushchev were very willing to risk the very obliteration of the Soviet Union just to save face. That is even more true for Castro, who wanted the Soviets to launch even if it meant the destriction of Cuba! Fortunately, Khrushchev was appalled and wanted none of that.
