Defeating fundamentalists with intelligenceReader comment on item: Instant Retribution in the Middle East Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jul 30, 2015 at 21:09 Dear Dr Pipes, you mention that forces of evil sometimes get punished quickly without the involvement of outside agents. That is fine but how about defeating the forces of evil with planned intelligence. Your readers will love the story of three Chechen girls who managed to swindle $3000 from the IS fighters by pretending to be eager brides. Here is the link to the story. Jokes aside, ISIS and the rest of the fundamentalists are living in a free-for-all world without a trace of order. Here everyone is subject to anyone's intrepretation of the religion, slashing human throats is routine, anyone who can assemble a bomb can kill everyone else and everyone who kills or gets killed is called to a martyr. No power on the earth --not even infinite oil wealth-- can sustain such a system. While your examples about punishment coming to the evil forces might seem like random, in reality, they might be predictable results of the chaos. Hope someday the people living in these parts of the world stand up and demand logic and order. I shudder to sometimes think that our planet will be much more in order if the ISIS controlled land could be ruled by Israel!
