The 11th Encyclopædia Britannica on Who Is a PalestinianReader comment on item: The 11th Encyclopædia Britannica on Who Lived in Palestine Submitted by Bill Narvey (Canada), Aug 8, 2016 at 08:21 This is for the honest historian, a pro-Israel advocate, a person whose life is consumed with seeking only truths and an esoteric reader for whom facts and truths are important, even when they are of little interest outside the esoteric world. This fact based article does not fit the Palestinian anti-Israel-antisemitic narrative and agenda. It will also be ignored or deemed irrelevant by Palestinian supporters of all backgrounds including international and national political and other institutional leaders that are pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel or that are by their perceptions of their own self interests anti-Israel, antisemitic or both and thus pro-Palestinian-anti-Israel. As for pro-Israel advocates, they generally are very good at disseminating facts and truths such as neatly laid out in this article. Pro-Israel advocates however, are not so good at getting willfully blind, deaf or disinterested people to hear, understand and accept these truths and be instructed by them in forming their views and determining their actions. To be sure it is tough to persuade the closed minded. Pro-Israel advocates and indeed Jews generally are further disadvantaged in that they are not united in messaging their defence and support of Israel's lawful and human rights, legitimate and moral self interests and national aspirations and further some Jews are Jews in name only who serve as the useful idiots of the Palestinians. Jews are a strange lot. Whereas the rest of the world and its diverse religious, ethnic and cultural peoples instinctively unites against an enemy that threatens their very existence, Jews argue among themselves over the nature and extent of the threat and what they should say and do about it. It seems pro-Israel advocates and Jews must first unite in common purpose to defeat the enemy at their gates. With that victory, they can afford the intellectually pleasurable time of discussing and debating how they might have done things better and how they can do better the next time Jews and Israel are faced with an existential threat, which history tells us is most certainly coming some time down the road.
