In defence of Gary Johnson and of humanity ...Reader comment on item: America's Know-Nothing Diplomacy [article] Submitted by Anne Julienne (United States), Nov 11, 2016 at 00:43 I don't think Gary Johnson exhibited "foreign policy ignorance" when he failed to respond to the Aleppo question. It saddens me to see Daniel Pipes see it that way. OK, now we can say that Glick and Goldman got it right and Pipes got it wrong. Or can we? Trump is delivering (via Jason Dov Greenblatt and David Friedman) an Israel policy platform second to none. And Congress is "on side" both at Senate and Rep levels. Great. But Glick and Goldman (and Simon and many others) have missed a key point. The message is, yes, GREAT .. but the messenger is .. NOT SO. Trump's Israel policy is wonderful, truly wonderful. But I'll start believing it when the US embassy really is in place in Jerusalem. Pipes has picked up on the dangers of Trump, dangers similar to those displayed by Hitler. It's a huge gamble to hope that a Hitler-like personality will "save" you. May Glick and Goldman be right. I surely hope so. But morality is a funny thing. It comes back and bites those who lose their clarity in this. Please, God, forgive the Jewish people if they have stumbled here. It was the (only) human thing to do .. and You did Create them as Human after all. Please, God, find a way to realise, in this world, a correct balance of worldly power and spiritual authority. Please, God. And meanwhile: Alleluja! Praise be to G-d and to his chief songster, Leonard Cohen, whom He has taken back to Heaven. Who cares how we spell "Aleppo"?
