Still too soon, to predict 2017Reader comment on item: What's a Conservative to Do? Vote for Pence Submitted by Michael S, Dec 10, 2016 at 03:17 Actually, Tovey, I've never voted for a Democrat; and neither has my brother-in-law. Both of us would have voted for Joe Blow, if he were a Republican. There are plenty of Democrats who vote similarly, but of an opposite persuasion. This was a fairly close election, decided by a few thousand swing voters. What's surprizing, is that the pollsters and oddsmakers got it so wrong; and that Hillary's ENORMOUS financial and endorsement advantage got her nowhere. Something similar happened with the Brexit vote: It was really a close vote; but it confounded the pundits; and groundswell victory or no, the mighty are toppling over like dead trees in a windstorm: Obama, Clinton, Cameron, Hollande, Renzi and probably Merkel. I wish Putin and Xi would go the same route; but of course, they are not in free societies. In other matters, you might notice that I haven's said much lately about Turkey and Iran invading Israel. I thought I saw some real movement, with Turkish tanks penetrating into Syria. But that offensive has ground to a halt now; and everyone else is waiting to see what Trump will do. Everyone's a free agent in the Middle East, not loyal to anyone. Egypt & E. Libya (Phut) have deserted Saudi Arabia, in favor of Russia. Sudan (Cush) is pro-Saudi, which, in turn, is pro-Turkish. Iran is pro-Russian, without affection; and the Kurds are split down the middle. Where's Isaiah 19 in this? I don't see it. Trump could make a game-changing move concerning Turkey and Iran, and things could shift suddenly; but I can't predict any such thing -- everyone just seems to be waiting, for now. Stuff is happening. I see the hand of God in it; but beyond that, I don't know what to say.
