Well said Dr PipesReader comment on item: Trump executive order 'a great fumble.' Submitted by Anon (United States), Feb 7, 2017 at 21:20 Dr Pipes, those are good points. You analyzed it well especially regarding the poor thought process that has gone into this executive order. Its a bit frustrating that experts on the Middle East like Dr Pipes are not consulted on critical policies like these by the Trump administration. Its also amazing that even a tiny country like Israel that has much greater security concerns than the US is able to protect its borders without bizarre and ill thought out blanket bans. I remember how thoroughly and politely the security officers would question me at Ben Gurion during a few visits I made to Israel a few years ago. They were professional and only cared about making sure the people they screened were not threats. Analyzing body language was also one of the techniques used by Israelis. In the US everything seems to be for political theater and show. How sad.
