Jordan at the PrecipiceReader comment on item: Jordan at the Precipice Submitted by Judith Davies (United States), Mar 8, 2017 at 14:20 Great article of possibilities. Jordan would do well to improve relations with Israel and to stand up to Palestinian aspirations to destroy the Jewish state. The current Jordanian and Egyptian monarchs seem more agreeable to bring peace to the region than their predecessors. That said, sadly the rats in the woodpile, the current Palestinian leaders, won't have any of it. They will gin up another intifada if any of their aspirations look to go asunder with improved relations between Israel and her neighbors. With King Abdullah in the cross-hairs of the Islamic State and their own so-called Palestinians, at the same time, my Israeli friends suspect he could be taken out any time, and then where would they be? Perhaps their dependence on Israel for existence, even daily water, gives Israel the upper-hand in retaining sovereignty over the West Bank. I like your idea, but it means too many people have to be reasonable! Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
