Geographical areas of ChallengeReader comment on item: What Do Jihadis Want? The Caliphate Submitted by Peter Baum ( Board of Deputies British Jews and Board Member Fair Reporting ) (United Kingdom), Mar 19, 2017 at 03:35 Dear Sir, I find your articles fascinating and relevant. In our Western Media however, there are certain geographical areas that seldom get reported where Islamists are trying, with some degree of success to make inroads. If only the Uighers in Western China o, the Abu Sayyaf faction in the Philippines, Islamists in the North African area or the Chechen Muslims etc. etc. were given such prominence then I think the secular west would be even more alert to a potential Caliphate. The Western Media over publicise the 'plight' of the Palestinians to the detriment of the safety of all of us. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: You are right about the over-emphasis on the Middle East in general and the Palestinians in particular. I tried in my book In the Path of God evenly to cover the entire umma, including the regions you mention. But with all that is going on, it's too much for anyone to keep up on a regular basis with Muslims in all regions. Reader comments (21) on this item
