You very well could be correct but the Qur'an makes it very clear that Muslim should not question what is in the Qur'an So the question becomes how do we know or understand what the Qur'na is really saying? The answer is provided by 'Aisha is a famous saying attributed to her and it is

التفسير للصحابة والتأويل للفقه

Or al-Tafsir (exegesi of the Qur'an) is up to contemporary followers of Muhammad (al-Sahaba) and al-Ta'weel (also exegesis of the Qur'an ) is up to the Muslim doctors of law

This really means that Muslims should not interpret the Qur'an for themselves but they should follow the interpretations of their Fuqaha (doctors of Islamic law) and because we don't have any more living Sahaba a real Muslims becomes he who reads and follows the interpretations of al-Fuqaha and this is indeed what Daesh does and this is why they are the real Muslims or an Isalmist is the real Muslim
