Response to Daniel PipesReader comment on item: Foreword: Why Islam's Reformers are Vitally Important Submitted by Anon (United States), Aug 7, 2017 at 21:45 Dear Daniel Pipes, in Christianity Jesus did not lead by example when it came to executing homosexuals, adulterers etc. In fact Jesus is said to have asked for somebody free from sin to cast the first stone when it came to stoning an adulterer. This is a critical fact that makes Islam so different from other religions. Religions generally follow the spirit of the leader. Buddha set an example. Christ set an example. Muhammad set an example. Those examples have shaped the long term vision of these respective religions. Islam is relatively new and the examples set by Muhammad are quite unambiguous and fresh in memory. If he were alive today there is no doubt that the Middle East would be an even more bloody thirsty place going by the examples he set during his life time - his genocides of Jewish tribes and polytheists, adulterers and so on. He would be disappointed that the Yazidi have not be genocided out of existence. Nobody should blame ISIS for faithfully trying to follow his examples. Palestinian hatred of Israel is a direct consequence of the kind of life Muhammad lived. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
