Thanks DNM for calling out Arsalan Iftikhar by nameReader comment on item: Discussing Egypt and Islam Submitted by Prashant, Dec 2, 2017 at 20:57 Dear Dr Pipes, I must thank your reader DNM for taking about Islamic hypocrisy and calling out Arsalan Iftikhar by name. Strange is our relationship with the Islamic world. We routinely ignore and forgive behavior(s) of Muslims that we will not forgive if exhibited by any body else. Arsalan Iftikhar basks under the praise and recognition that he gets as a modern American Muslim. But lo and behold! Arsalan Iftikhar calls himself 'the Muslim Guy'. Isn't it amazing? Jimmy carter does not call himself 'the southern baptist guy'. George Bush never called himself 'the Christian Guy'. There are tens of Hindu American public figures who do not call themselves 'the Hindu guys'. But Arsalan Iftikar calls himself 'the Muslim Guy' and gets away with it! And the story does not end their. When our dear Muslim guy gets famous, enlightened and educated and becomes a professor, guess what does he teach about? He teaches about Islamophobia to secular people in secular universities on secular budget. And gets praised for it. Go figure! Fighting Islamism using the islamists' methods (like violence and falsehood) will never work. Islamism must be fought by challenging the hypocrisy in the shadow of which it hides. Every single day in every single place on earth, when we see Muslims allocating themselves a standard that is not available to anyone else, we need to speak. We need to say that if Arsalan Iftikhar calls himself a Muslim guy in public life, then he is neither secular, nor modern, nor enlightened. He is just another Islamic-apologist.
