Leftists and Israel

The left tend to be internationalists, except when it comes to Muslims. The component of Judaism, the Jewish nation, has annoyed secularists on two grounds. The Jews have insisted on maintaining their nationhood and they have, for the most part, insisted on worshipping the one God. Leftists love people with no borders and denounce religion as backward tribal behavior. They are internationalists in the tradition of Stalin and Mao. Why Israel itself annoys them (as opposed to the Muslim countries) is beyond me. .
