O.K., So... What I Would Like To SeeReader comment on item: "A Corrective to the Pipes Worldview"? Submitted by orange yonason (United States), Aug 29, 2005 at 13:56 BS"DRegarding Mulim "moderates." Sheikh Palazzi I have known about for some time now. I've only recently heard of Shoair Choudhury, and just now of Fethullah Gülen. Ok., that's three. But the other side of that coin is a whole lot heavier. Given a few minutes, most of us can dredge up the names of dozens of Islamists, many from memory; and within a few hours probably extend the list to perhaps hundreds. Are the moderates really so outnumbered, as the news headlines from around the world would suggest? And, if so, that doesn't sound like such good news, except that it may give us an ally to support and strengthen. What I would like to see is some sort of comprehensive listing of the 'good guys', with information showing how they are CLEARLY different from the 'bad actors', and not just a different manifestation of the same beast. I would like to know who can we trust based not just on their words, but their deeds. I would like to know how, by trusting them, do we stand a chance of not still end up the same as the Islamists want us to, except by a different path? The fact that this information hasn't been forthcoming up to now (we've had 4 years) suggests that it may not be there, or there might not be much of it. I hope that's a mistaken impression. I eagerly await a response. Not so incidentally, I do not believe that Islam is inherently an enemy, at least as it was before the Saudi Wahabists and the Egyptian Al Bannas got their clutches on it. The reason I believe this is primarily due to information I got by reading a Kehot publication for Jewish youth entitled "Bustenai"(1). It is based on historical documents in the posession of the Lubavitcher Rebbe about a descendent of King David, an ancestor of the Rebbe's, who, along with other Jews of his time, fought the common enemies of Jews and Muslims alongside Mohammed's generals. I was quite astonished to learn this, and if I had heard it from any other source I might not have believed it.
