A society and culture of suppression, social dominance and controlReader comment on item: My Disastrous Meeting with the Soviets Submitted by Rondipass (United States), Oct 30, 2019 at 10:31 An observation: after just reading an account of PLA and Hamas quasi official self representation and public persona on self political presentation is how illustrative both these soviet and Middle East worlds are of the cross cultural nature of totalitarian, paranoiac, delusional, aggrandizing leadership and social constructs. Orwell and Kafka elaborated and illustrated their social and personality functions with evocative power by illustration of the intellectual and emotional worlds of such actors and participants. If I speak in whispers I can tell you of a totally different sector of soviet Russian society living much the same as your encounter. My source was a personal Russian friend and expatriate who said he escaped the clutches of the Russian Mafia and KGB.
