The most terrifying trendReader comment on item: De-platforming in Daily Life Submitted by John (United States), Jun 3, 2020 at 03:54 I think you've hit on the most terrifying trend in modern society. New technology and networking is allowing a frightening level of coordinated cultural control by self-appointed gatekeepers, who function much like priests in the Middle Ages. If conservatives and libertarians don't start pushing back, we could find ourselves living in a China-style totalitarian system where our entire society is under technocratic central control. This needs to be at the top of the list of issues for conservatives, who are in the crosshairs for cultural exile by these new dot-communists. What puzzles me is how this kind of hard-left control mentality became so prevalent in our society among the elite. It was not like this 20 or 30 years ago as I recall. What happened?
