I'm another Nextdoor RefusenikReader comment on item: De-platforming in Daily Life Submitted by Leslie (United States), Jan 6, 2022 at 11:24 A couple of months ago, someone on Nextdoor decided to shut me up. They obviously did a search on all of my posts for certain words that are on their Orwellian banned list. I committed the heinous crime of using the word "thug" generically. Like describing how then-NYC Mayor DeBlasio made it easy for thugs -- many were white kids from the nearby suburbs -- to commit rampant violence and property damage during the peaceful protests early in the summer of 2020. My suspension is over, but I also refuse to agree to this and will not return there: "At that time, you can log into your account via a web browser (not the app) to access your Nextdoor neighborhood after checking a box stating that you agree to following the Guidelines." Here are some of their wokest restrictions: "Use slurs, profanity, derogatory racial terms, or other language that reduces an individual's humanity. This includes the use of the dehumanizing terms, "illegals," "illegal aliens," or "aliens" to refer to non-citizens, the use of racial code words (e.g., "Thug" or "Oriental"), as well as the use of derogatory language to refer to people who have a criminal history (e.g., "scum" or "animals")." "Promote hate-based conspiracy theories and misinformation (e.g., Holocaust denial or "Antifa is invading the suburbs")"
