What about the lawsuits?Reader comment on item: Bibi for Prime Minister? No, For President Submitted by David (Israel), Dec 30, 2020 at 04:11 It is disappointing that Dr. Pipes glosses over the three most serious charges brought against Netanyahu: CORRUPTION (including the worst crime a public servant can be accused of - taking and giving bribe), FRAUD and BREACH OF PUBLIC TRUST. To be clear, these are not accusations hurled at Bibi by his political opponents. These are legal terms in which the charges brought against Netanyahu by the Israeli Attorney General that represents Israel's highly respected legal system, are officially described. Bibi for presidency, Dr. Pipes? Sure, after he stands trial and proves his innocence. While he is definitely legally innocent until proven guilty, presidency means automatic escape from legal proceedings according to the Israeli law. So, not so fast. First, we need to make sure (in the court of law) that he is not guilty as charged. Then, if he is not jailed, he may run for presidency. Israel is a Western democracy, please remember this.
