Where do the visions come from?

It is now well established that one of the major reasons for Muslims converting to Christianity is dreams and visions about Jesus. This seems to be happening all over the Muslim world, to people who were not previously exposed to Christianity, or interested in it?
Would anyone like to suggest a cause of this phenomenon which does not involve the supernatural?
