Thanks to Mr. Pipes. Many of us have heard such rumors, but he has gathered together information from many sources, evaluated it all, and delineated the nuances of the phenomenon. Future students of the phenomenon may need merely to take the conceptual framework defined by Mr. Pipes and update it here and there as fresh information arrives.
