Dear Amar,

All kuran's words were written for the social life of year 700 of Arabic society.Today we live in the year 2005 and islam is for everybody and not only for Arabs. İf arabs believe that Allah ordered to the muslims to live in the year 700 then I am sorry but I wont. Allah gave us brains to interpret kuran in a civilised manner.

İn Kuran it was ordered women to use head covers and also to hide all their body.Today we understand it this way. Muslim women must not seduce other men except their husbands by any acts.woman must not decieve their husbands.woman must not have too many relationships with men before marriage. women definitely must not have a baby from unknown fathers. İn short, comparing to todays christian society our women must be more conservative. But this doesnt mean that they will be closed at home, not walk alone on the street, not swim, fully dressed under the shining sun,not drive a car, not work with men,etc. Head cover is a symbol for the moral values of women.a woman can use head cover but still do some immoral things.and these rules are not only for women but also for men. men must be loyal only to his wife also. And if a women cheats,men can only divorce her, not kill her. no human can put himself or herself in the place of Allah and punish the other one for a sin they committed.

Drinking alcohol is forbidden in islam.we understand it this way.alcohol is bad for our liver and mental health.Especially if we get used to it. if we do any harm to ourselves or others as a result of drinking alcohol then this is a sin. but if we can drink not much,dont get addicted, dont harm our liver then it can be even good for our health. then why should it be a sin. Also in kuran it says stay away from wine. Which doesnt mean only wine but all alcohols and drugs and I suppose I guess, even cigarettes.

About not eating pork.we understand we must not eat animals like pigs, dogs, cats,etc. because they can carry microbes which can be harmful to humans.but today if pig became a healthy meat, muslims can eat it. I personally am not used to it.and ı wont eat it. But eating pork cant be a sin.

Prophet Muhammed never contradicted himself. He ordered to fight and kill the nonbelievers in the wars in order to make survive the islam religion.in the war you have to kill.This doesnt mean that today some idiots should go out and can kill non muslims. İt was year 700 saudi arabia. About being nice with our neighbours like many many other moral orders I see no contradiction. besides we dont believe that Prophet muhammed was the son of god,he was a human being like us just was chosen to pass the words of Allah to us.You may not believe it, but you may not blame it.
