At the risk of exasperating, once again, the secularistic and atheistic preferences of many in this forum, observer Ross makes some very interesting comments which run the range from almost believing in the Genesis narrative to attempting to dismiss it altogether (Dr. Pipes' comment about most modern believers sadly appearing true these days); the second alternative is now winning the argument for the very reason Dr. Pipes cites: few modern believers actually know what to believe and that vacuum of knowledge is what condemns the world to an ignominious ending. First point to the main error; Judaism is rather unique; but that is why many find it so easy to disparage. Disparage Judaism and then one can ignore the main contribution there of belief in the Jewish Savior; it's so easy, isn't it?
On the other hand, in the age of increasing 'knowledge of Darwinist' science, assuming an ageless earth and multiples of millennia or even longer giving an impression that natural man as a survivor past the age of the dinosaurs presents avenues towards immortality, what if mankind could solve the mystery of time travel? Simplistic, is it not?
But, to the insert of religion: what of the Judaic narrative of an earth only being +/-5800 years young and the history starting from the first man and woman: where does that place humanity in the modern global scheme of things? If the premise that if the COVID does not get mankind hurting for a release of its damage and wartime standings end with a nuclear breakout, how does humanity deal with that?
This observer has a slightly different take: speculations from Asimov, Abdullayev, Feynman and Hawking in Physics, or others in the UK or Australia theorizing particle physics; all lead to another potential avenue of approach that tends towards the revealing of the limitations of human understanding: not everyone agrees.
The evidence shows that dinosaurs existed: when(?). The Judaic narrative does not expressly reveal that except in mysterious language of leviathans in the inexpressible portions of the Tanakh where HaShem is making a point to humanity that believing Him is the pathway to eternal life, later expressed in the continuing narrative that places Israel in the land of her heritage, which many want to reject.
And therein lays the rib; to believe or not. That is the question placed before every human; and how that is answered determines eternity for all.
