Today's world is at war; from the first murder in ancient times to the mass homicidal tendencies that have manifested themselves throughout history and is in most recent demonstration of Islamic resurgency of such things as seen in Afghanistan; and the adherents of such think they are entitled to behave in this way.
And yes, religion is seen as the proximal cause. But does atheistic tendencies have an answer: if that were true, then why, when the former Soviet Union and its followers (like today's CCP) declared their own atheistic allegiances and adherences to those tenets of unbelief, still murdered untold millions of various religious and non-religious beliefs and kept the world tethered in dominating totalitarian humiliation and still taking uncounted lives as sacrifices to that end. And to the opposing contention: yes, many who took the name of the Christian LORD in vain operated in similar fashion, but where does one need to look for true world peace?
Strangely, except for a minority partition of humanity, who really knows how to obtain world peace; at the UN(?); get serious.
At the middle of the world conflict is the issue (an issue atheism actually cannot answer) of why the majority of humanity does not actively seek peace: in the frailty of mankind's failure is it inability to recognize a truth, rejecting the Sovereign Eternal of its existence in the universe brings the consequences of war; it is inevitable. It is the eternal argument. And yes, to the inference that it is centered in the Middle East, of such is the contention of why Islam seeks to dominate the world by instituting ummah and the war is the focus of that battle.
