The Algerian author and social critic Anwar Malek is worth hearing on this video of an Al Jazeera TV (Qatar) interview (offered on the internet by MEMRI ).

It's a little dated (March 2009) but still gives the viewer another glimpse into the massive dissatisfaction present in the Middle East. It is in speedy (normal) Arabic but it has serviceable if somewhat wobbly English subtitles and you can always slow it down if you need to. Here it is at:
