DEAR MR JEFFReader comment on item: Middle East Geopolitics Submitted by DEBANJAN BANERJEE (India), Jan 20, 2022 at 09:27 Thanks for very prompt reply to my last post. I wish a very happy and prosperous 2022 to you and your family. Let us first look into Japan and South Korea. Japan and South Korea both host thousands of American troops and in the case of Japan these American troops actually led to the wildfire like spread of COVID in Japan i.e. the American troops acted as the carriers of this abominable virus to Japan. Neither Japan nor South Korea has any independent foreign policy because of the presence of these troops. Why would these two countries need American troops on their soil considering the last war that region saw was in the 1950-s ? Why would Japan and South Korea decide to stop purchasing cheap oil from Iran (and that too using their own currencies without using US dollar) considering that Iran never had any problems with these two countries if they did have independent foreign policies and not colonies ? But when I wrote about the immigration as a malevolent impact of the US empire, what I have primarily in the mind was the interest of common American citizens. Lets face it, it is the US empire that is responsible for having almost 1 million US citizens dead (most of them are non-white , poor senior citizens) in these last two years from a virus that can not be seen. Because of the huge number of overseas US bases and billions of civilian contractors, the US did not invest sufficiently on her medical systems that has led to these huge number of deaths. US overseas empire is also responsible for huge immigration at the cost of American citizens like you who happen to be conservatives and voting for the republican party. The choice is yours. Do you want empire or a secure, stable US ? I will be happily awaiting your answers.
