Travesty of democracyReader comment on item: Fellow Conservatives, Please Reject Conspiracy Theories Submitted by Joseph S (United States), May 1, 2022 at 15:17 Assume there was no manipulation with the election rules in a number of large cities located in key purple states in order to artificially and dramatically increase Democrat's turnout, particularly, but not exclusively, by means of different types of ballot harvesting. Assume that even if this really happened, it did not affect the results of the election. Even with these assumptions, there are legitimate reasons to believe that the 2020 presidential elections were illegitimate, i.e., "rigged". We have witnessed more than four-year- long consistent, synchronized and very possibly coordinated and vicious campaign to libel the presidential candidate and then the President Donald Trump as an agent of Russia and as an impostor Senior and not so senior members of Trump team were subpoenaed and questioned as witnesses and potential criminals by the FBI and the Department of Justice prosecutors with the objective to get from them a testimony against Trump or at least to intimidate and harass them, and to scare people of ever working for Trump team. The press and media claimed them guilty by the very fact that they were members of Trump's team. As a result of these propaganda efforts, a significant portion of potential voters became convinced that these accusations were either true or at least there was something there to be highly suspicious. President Trump was denied access to the major social media platforms during the next cycle of presidential elections. He was denied the opportunity to face his opponents in fair presidential debates by the Commission on Presidential Election that assigned as moderators only members of the press who proved their anti-Trump credentials in advance. The heavily monopolized media played the role of propaganda bullhorn of anti-Trump candidates. In critical weeks before 2020 elections, senior members of intelligent services including CIA used their intelligent credential and access to media in order to directly and in coordinated fashion interfere with the election process by attempting to discredit and suppress the negative information regarding Democrat's candidate. This was an explicit attempt to influence an outcome of the elections. If any of the described attempts by members of previous administration, by intelligent services and FBI, by Department of Justice, and by heavily monopolized press and media to influence the outcome of the election, have happened in countries like, say, Russia, or anywhere else, then independently on whether they were effective or not, this alone would be sufficient to denounce the results of such elections as illegitimate. This evidence provides serious reasons to put the legitimacy of the 2020 Presidential elections in doubt here in the US as well. Massive demonstration on January 6, 2021 by people who demanded the Congress to not certify the results of the election, were denounced by the entire anti-Trump coalition including the Department of Justice as insurrection, and their participants as insurrectionists. The people who express any doubts in the legitimacy of the election were declared conspirators, and the very doubts themselves were declared as a dangerous conspiracy and the threat to the democracy. As a result, such people and their views were suppressed by intimidation, harassment and even by force. They were particularly silenced by most of the press and media. It should be a mission of the very people who pretend to be intellectual leaders of the conservative movement and who supposed to cherish the American type of democracy, to explore to the bottom what happened during the last two cycles of presidential elections, and how it was allowed to happen. Denying, ignoring or just minimizing that this travesty of democracy really happened is the worst conspiracy theory by itself.
