Israel seems to share some values with today's Conservatives: a strong defense, pride in the nation, and, I think most significantly, a deeper appreciation for Western values in general, most of which are rooted in Judaism with strong echoes in Christianity. The Palestinian cause, on the other hand, with its link to authoritarian regimes, rejection of compromise and approval of hate crimes as a tool of policy, is antithetical to Western, and hence Conservative, values. The American Left seems to be drifting ever farther away, influenced by Muslim immigration and Marxist academics hawking moral relativism.
