Our dear Robert and Does the Author of the Qur'an say that Allah Metamorphosed the Jews and Now they are Pigs and Monkeys?Reader comment on item: When Arab Politicians' Shouts and Whispers Contradict Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Dec 10, 2022 at 08:26 Dr. Pipes, Robert wrote: >Who are the Apes and Swine? The Qoran does not name them explicitly! Wrong as you shall see. >See here (Qoran 5:60):http://islamicstudies.info/reference.php?sura=5&verse=60 Well let us read the text in Arabic. The author informs us in Q5:59 that the subject of Q5:60 is اهل الكتاب or Ahl al-Kitab. So the question is who are اهل الكتاب? Well as usual the Qur'an does not define who are really اهل الكتاب. al-Mufasereen come to the rescue and tell us that they are one of the following options: 1. The Jews and Christians. 2. May be the Jews only and may be the Christians only. 3. May be the Jews, the Christians, al-Sabi'een (a Mesopotamian sect that worshiped stars), The Hindus, the Buddhists and the Zoroastrians. 4. Oh and Only Allahu A'lam However, we will find the answer in Q5:60 as you shall see. So here is Q5:60 and the verse has the usual Quranic problems with strange grammar/syntax and words that have no clear meaning as in the case of مثوبة. So I will concentrate of the definition of who are really Ahl al-Kitab in this context and who became pigs and monkeys so let us read this part of the verse مَن لَّعَنَهُ اللَّهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهُمُ الْقِرَدَةَ وَالْخَنَازِيرَ This can be rendered as: From the curse of Allah and His anger upon him (I will leave the grammar for another post) and He made from them Monkeys and Pigs. Notice that the word monkey in classical Arabic is قرد and the plural is قرود and not the Quranic قردة which is from Aramaic ܩܰܪܕܳܐ or Qarda and the word pigs in Arabic is الخنازير which is derived from the Aramaic word for pigs and it is ܚܙܽܘܪܳܐ or Khzura (and more foreign words in the Qur'an) So who are the subjects of this verse? The clue here is the word غَضِبَ or anger. If you recall that in Surat al-Fatiha (that our dear Robert recites 5 times a day) it says in Surat al-Fatiha: 7: الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ or those that are the subject of Allah's anger are the Jews. Do you get it so far our dear Robert? Now here is the confirmation and this is from al-Qurtubi: هل أنبئكم بمن لعنه الله ; والمراد اليهود So al-Qurtubi is saying that the subject of the verse and therefore Ahl al-Kitab in this verse are: The Jews Allah metamorphosed the Jews and made them monkeys and pigs! Mashallah It is your books our dear Robert al-Tablighee that tell us about these disasters >The "Apes and Swine" (so named in the Qoran) therefore may be some Arabs? Or maybe Christians who worship Jesus and Mary? Shish Kabab Falafel and Hummus You are either ignorant or and you must pardon me a liar or both.
