Holocaust survivor (OBM) Rachel Zini's reply to a politician's fake, cruel, horrific attempted 'comparison'Reader comment on item: Op Eds Now More Central in War than Bullets Submitted by Fanny (United States), Dec 24, 2022 at 23:02 My name is Rachel Zini. I am 94 years old and an Auschwitz refugee. I was filled with immense sorrow upon hearing your statements on Holocaust Day. The comparison you made between Germany before the war and Israel today seems to me to have no basis, and is most likely the result of ignorance of a period that undoubtedly preceded your birth. I would like to present some comparisons. My father completed his law studies in Berlin in 1916 due to the 'numerus clauses' which prevented him as a Jew from studying in Budapest, the closest place to his residence. At the University of Berlin he saw the seeds of the Nazis, where the students, with the support of the professors, would carry out merciless beatings on the Jewish students. In the State of Israel, the Arab students can study anywhere they see fit, and in addition to that, they receive discrimination that favors them (this is called: 'affirmative discrimination'). I myself was a witness and a victim of the cruelty of the German doctors, including Mengele. During this winter, I was hospitalized in Hadassah Hospital, and I got to see the unqualified humane attitude of the Jewish doctors towards everyone, including towards the terrorist who was lying in the bed next to my bed. I remember the indifference of the Red Cross who refused to help or even listen to the Jews. I see every day the devotion of the Magen David Adom and the Zaka, who take care of everyone in comparison, including those who came to murder. I have experienced the wild rampage of the European national assemblies, the media and the intelligentsia against the Jews, especially against those who have contributed more than anyone to their homeland, such as Leon Bloom, Prime Minister of France. And here, I see on television Knesset member Hanin Zoabi freely praising the relatives of the terrorists' families . I live a few hundred meters from the place where a young girl was badly burned on a bus. In contrast to this, at the post office, banks or stores, I notice the absolute freedom the Arabs enjoy. So I remember the Hungarian leadership that forced the Jewish lawyers to clean the streets of the Hungarian PUSTA with a toothbrush. I saw the sadism of the commander of the camp Płaszów who used his dog against my friend to tear off both of her breasts by shouting "JUDE." I heard my brothers-in-law tell of the joy of the Hungarian soldiers when they managed to turn the "beautiful blue Danube" into a bloody red river of the Jews they were going to slaughter, and the joy of the German soldiers who exterminated and buried alive three thousand Krakow Jews. There was no end to the brutality of the police, especially the French police, who also handed over the Jewish children that the Nazis did not demand. I was blessed with close to forty grandchildren and close to one hundred and twenty great-grandchildren. I saw them, they and their comrades, when they were required to go to the reserves or to war, and they went bravely and resolutely, but always against the inclinations of their hearts. The overwhelming majority of the youth in our country dream only to live in peace. In the name of my father Eldar Chenki (Neumann) who believed in democracy, and who paid for it with his life in Sobibor, in the name of my sister Hana who was exterminated in a gas chamber in Auschwitz as she arrived pregnant, and in the name of my cousin André, the eight year old, who was also exterminated in the gas chamber and no one taught him how to hold a knife , I ask you to maintain a strong and determined army, and that an excess of mercy towards those interested in our extermination, will not lead to the killing of more Jewish children. I would be happy to have you at my place if you could find the time for it. I can then tell you many more things. Sincerely, Rachel Zini, refugee of the Auschwitz camp. https://www.inn.co.il/news/321613 9 May '16
