"moral apparatus exemplifies the very worst facets of imperative patriotism" explainedReader comment on item: Sajjilu Arab American Submitted by Prashant (India), Jan 27, 2023 at 21:19 Dear Dr Pipes, Because you asked and because I spent my whole Mumbai morning researching Steven Salaita's work, I will dare to teach the teacher and explain to you the meaning of 'moral apparatus exemplifies the very worst facets of imperative patriotism'. In very simple words, Steven Salaita is saying that your patriotic love for America (or Israel) is immoral. You may not like it but that is what he said. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: I appreciate your translation, which looks accurate. Why use a 25-cent word when a 75-cent word is available?
