Mandy,

For the past decade the largest immigrant populations to the UK have been from Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately, as you know, membership of the EU means that we have to accept political asylum seekers. What's the alternative? I think you've probably guessed. It's no coincidence that Iraq and Afghanistan are the first countries that we chose to 'liberate'. This means that people from these countries can no longer claim asylum here (UK) as they are no longer regarded as qualifying. The strangest thing is that now we've stopped the Iraqis and Afghani's coming here the new 'number 1' is Iran. So when people say it's about oil I would suggest that there is far more evidence to say that we're simply trying to stop them coming here.
