Hero or Snakeoil..........I vote heroReader comment on item: Walid Shoebat: "Palestinian turns from radical Muslim to true Zionist" Submitted by Kathleen Van Wyhe (United States), Apr 21, 2006 at 12:48 My Dear Moshe,I read your comments with interest. 'Has anyone heard of this supposed "Palestinian" darling of the Zionist movement, Walid Shoebat? ' No but I have never heard of you either, but I dont discount your validity. 'I've read his articles and something doesn't sound right with this guy. He claims to be Palestinian but nobody in the territories has ever heard of him. ' It is right of you to question his motives but would the followers of Arafat really give this guy any validity even if they could? 'He says he was a former PLO fighter but strangely enough he doesn't have any documentation or proof to back up his claims. ' What type of documentation would you be looking for? A Palestinian membership card? A tatoo? Perhaps a number tatooed on your skin? For the Palestinians even that doesn't validate the Holocaust. Do you think he is a Palestinian who is trying to infiltrate the Jewish community to convince them that the Palestinains are wrong and that Israel deserves to occupy her ancient homeland and that we should consider Islam the enemy and that somehow this is going to further (clandestinely, of course) the extremist Muslim Palestinian cause? 'Lately, he's been selling his services to many different Jewish organizations. ' That, my friend, is because many (do not read all) Christians have sympathies for the Palestinians and they are not inviting him to their churches. They believe that the Church has replaced Israel in the Promises of God. I believe we share in them but we have not replaced God's Chosen. My cousin saw him at a college lecture and was shocked at his insistence that Palestinians are actually Nazis in disguise. When the writing is on the wall............I read it. Just like many skinheads in America venerate Hitler and his intent to persecute the Jews and want to bring back this behavior, so do the Muslims, and my friend, I can see no difference in ideology. You do know that the grand mufti of Israel did support Hitler and the Palestinians still praise Hitler today for his anti-Jewish solution. I think they would relish putting the Final Solution back into action. Ask Iran. I believe they would agree. I do think, Mr Shoebat, is speaking of ideology, however and not replacing Hitler as number one in the annals of evil, although through the ages he has had competitors galore. 'I'm the first to condemn Palestinian terror but we should never discount the fact that it was European Christians who slaughtered six million Jews. ' And to our eternal shame. Shame even more so to those Christians who did not speak out when a Walid Shoebat (D.Bonhoffer, etc.) betrayed their own to show the evil arising, thereof. Were those who spoke out then traitors to their own..........but the larger question that begs asking is "shouldn't they have betrayed their own if their own were acting in unjust or immoral ways?" Nobody should ever be compared to the Nazis - they have a special place in the wrath of Hashem. Perhaps it should be that no one should take the place in the Annals of Evil that Hitler and his Nazis occupy..........but comparison? Well, one can draw comparisons without replacing. And how do you explain the fact that Muslims, daily, in their media, compare the Israelis to Nazis? Shouldn't someone speak out against that? Walid Shoebat is. 'Have you ever heard the phrase "never trust a man who sells out his own people". ' If I say to you, in all sincerity, that Christians should be ashamed of their treatment of the Jews throughout the centuries. If I say we have wronged you and that we failed you, as human beings and that we misstreated you throughout the centuries would I be a traitor to my own? Christians that is? Is not the enemy of your enemy your friend? If you feel I am a traitor to my own and cannot be trusted then what good does it do a person who is in a philosophy, a political persuasion, or a religion that has gone astray to denounce it, try to change it, or repent and make up for their past mistakes and wrongs? Some Christians throughout time have treated the Jews abominably and that's a fact. It should not have been. But to be a Christian and not speak out and warn other Christians or admit this to the Jewish world is to be an accomplice to the wrongs. And I for one feel this is a greater wrong. It perpetrates a lie. I admit this. I speak out on this. And if I am considered a traitor to my own and to the Jews and liable for suspect.......then so be it. I will bear what Walid Shoebat bears for speaking the truth. Remember, he is not the Darling of the Palestinans. I am sure his life is on the line for so speaking the truth. ' 'That sums up Shoebat. He is too right wing in his rhetoric. Because he is too pro-Israeli and to anti-Muslim? Then I too confess to being too right wing. He claims to be a former Moslem who now embraces Christianity and loves Israel. Well, how can you love Israel if the only road to salvation is through Jesus Christ? My friend, I wish that you would know my Jesus, but I leave that decision entirely between you and God. And I guarentee you that I am a friend of the Jewish people, whether the Jewish people choose to regard me as so or not. And then, I might ask the same of you, a Jew. How can you befriend Christians if you believe we are idolators for believing in a triune God? It smacks in the face of the Shema. It works both ways. I would not question your friendship or your alliance based on the fact that you reject my God. How can you proclaim your admiration for the Jewish people if you feel they are lost in not accepting Christ as the Messiah? I can admire anyone who does not accept Christ as the Messiah. Admiration does not depend upon agreement to my faith. I admire good and decent contributing Atheists who believe in no God. Admiration has nothing to do with Who a person chooses as their God. It has to do with how they live their lives and how they contribute to humanity. Many Jewish people fulfill this to the heights of admiration and are lawloving and abiding people who live lives good and decent. Is that not enough for friendship and admiration? And the same for Christians. Is that not enough for admiration? I think one of the mistakes Christians made in their earlier treatment of the Jews is to exclude them from the group because they believed not in Jesus. Therefore that made them wrong and inferior and expendable unless they converted. And that lead to and persecution. I reject that and I will never accept that kind of exclusion. While I may wish you to know Jesus, the way I know Him, as Messiah, that is not a requirement for you to be in my favor or admiration, nor is it, I would hope, a reason for me not to be in yours. 'From what I've read on many posts, Shoebat is a former Lebanese militiaman who was brought over to Israel after the Southern Lebanon fiasco. He then set out to proclaim himself a Palestinian. ' And who were these sources? Other Palestinians? You didn't site your resources. "They" as resources are the same "they" who accused the Jews of blood crimes etc. Those unidentified experts who word gets passed around with authority without a name so they can never be checked out or verified. With all respect may I have the names please so I can check the sources? 'In the end he is a former member of the Christian Phangist (Fascist) party who's making a living telling Jews what they want to hear. I'm one who will plant a tree in Israel before I give this man a dime. ' I will keep my eye on Walid's behavior and let it speak for itself. Professed love is born under fire in one's behaviors. So far, he has appeared as a friend. And the enemy of My enemy is My friend until I find out otherwise. And money is only money. G*D will direct the monies of the world to fulfill His great purposes. If He can create the world and sustain it He can control the flow of money into the right hands. But in Israel, it is G*d Himself who is their protection and their provider. 'G*D help us all if Jewish organizations keep buying snakeoil from charlatans. ' And may G*D help them if they don't listen when they could. From what I have read on outside sources and to talking to many Muslims, even American Christian Arabs and American Muslims, they have no love for the Jews. They have only tolerance because of the law of our land. If Walid is speaking out and announcing that He has love for the Jews and that Muslims are wrong how then, can he be against you? In my mainstream church I have talked to Arab Christians who believe in love and mercy in general but they admit they vehemently dislike the Jews "no matter what God says." My friend, take your friends where you can find them. If they risk their lives, and I am sure Walid Shoebat's life is at risk for speaking out, then if a man lay down his life for his friend, what better love is there than that? May G*D bless you and may He protect you. Shalom Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
