The deadly game of politicsReader comment on item: Government for Sale [to the Saudis] Submitted by Savea (United States), Dec 8, 2002 at 17:23 I see the point in your concern, but unfortunately that is the reality of how politics are played in our ever-shrinking world -- a world of disappearing borders inexorable enmeshing the interconnectedness of our diverse sensibilities. The Bush White House is indeed held hostage by such a cult of multi-lateral universalism. It seems the President can't say anything anymore without the "feel-good" left wingers rousing up anti-unilateral, anti-America sentiment amongst the so-called progressive lefties generation of today.Indeed, America's fate is inextricably tied to the price of Saudi oil. If the President becomes too aggressive and aggravates Saudi sensibilities, and if anything should happen that the price of oil jumps to $5.00 a gallon, Bush will be blamed. And if he ignores the Saudis and their questionable involvement in 9/11, and should another attack occur here, he still faces even more wrath than before, as the liberals have been relentlessly pursuing him. Therefore, America is at the mercy of its liberal feel-good multiculturalism. For as long as there exists in this country a concerted effort by these leftist intellectual to de-enthnocentrize America's value system, we are all headed towards a precipice of almost no return. There is still hope but only vaguely possible. The only way it seems America can begin to feel proud once again in being American--in its unique and superior cultural heritege -- is for another Al Qaeda attack on this country so devastating that the power of this great nation will hang in limbo. Only then can people begin to value that which they have always taken for granted in which so many Americans have died to preserve--the freedom to do and be what you always and ever wanted to be. For only by losing one's freedom, can one really appreciate its real worth. I do not have any faith in the future of America as long as people feel safe in their ivory towers and ignore the realities of a world dangling precariously on a human-induced utopia - the UN. We need war--a really big devastating world war. For war cleanses the soul of nations and helps citizens to reevaluate their loyalties. War brings humility to mankind; War reminds mere mortals of how weak and vulnerable they are. But above all war reminds man of a greater power out there who is really in charge, and not the one touted by terrorists. I am in awe war because it humiliates the proud and casts fear in the hearts of the ungodly, for only by a just war can we check the pervasive spread of evil and their henchmen ala 9/11. Simply dipping around the edges of the matter only postpones the inevitable for a more deadly encounter later on.
