Bush Should Stay Out Of Religious EndorsementsReader comment on item: Government for Sale [to the Saudis] Submitted by D. Rodriguez (United States), Dec 10, 2002 at 15:33 President Bush should concentrate on being president of the freest nation and leave commenting on matters of religion to those trained in those fields.President Bush is not a scholar on either Islam or Christianity. While he described Islam in glowing terms recently during his speech ending Islamic Ramadan, he did not hesitate to castigate Christian leaders for their opposition to Islam as a false religion based on Christ's authority and Biblical "doctrinal" beliefs. Who, I ask, is best qualified to speak about Islam's theological falseness, Christian Bible teachers and scholars, or the POLITICAL leader of this nation? I support Mr. Bush as president, but please, don't try to speak on theological issues for the which you are not qualified... While I am tolerant of all ideas, true tolerance - while defering to all ideas - is never deferring at the expense of truth. The Saudis are the most repressive gov't of all, even Cuba. At least Cuba allows to some extent freedom of religious expression. The Saudi's allow none. They are intent on taking over the U.S. with their Wahabi brand of religious fanaticism. Mr President! America, wake up! It's time to let Saudi Arabia fund their own army and their own national defense; then they would have less money to disburse around the world in the establishment of their radical, violent, religion.
