Someone who knows the facts!Reader comment on item: New York Sun Columnist Weighs in on Creation of State of Israel Submitted by Jason (United States), Jul 26, 2006 at 08:52 Ray, I love reading someone who truly knows their facts, and you obviously do. Here's one more for the "Israel as home for European Jews" idiots. The Balfour accords, the documents upon which the creation of Israel was based, were written in 1917. This was pre-Holocaust. There was no problem with finding a "home" for European Jews. Most Europeans had come to grudgingly accept the fact that the Jews were a part of Europe (Hitler managed to undo this). No, the "problem" Lord Balfour was trying to solve was finding a way to protect the Jews living in the former Ottoman Empire from the persistent abuse by their Arab neighbors.
