progressive force in the past?

The only progressive Islam is when it is "Progressing" toward the destruction some sociery, culture, other religion, or some other target.. Islam is the antithesis of all of progressive western civilization. The notion that this Islamism is different than the Islamism of 700 AD is without foundation. The conquest of the lands of the Christians was indeed progressive in that it progressed until all of Byzantium was subjugated. Ther has never been an "Islamic civilization" To the extent it was Islamic ,it was not civilized.
