RAP ON RAPReader comment on item: The Curious Case of Jamil Al-Amin Submitted by sandy lazzar (United States), Oct 22, 2006 at 02:12 I Found Daniel Pipes article "The Curious Case of Jamil Al-Amin" to be extremely one sided ...in its attempts to make a case against Al-Amin formerly known as H.Rap Brown. Pipes... comments "self-styled namesake of "rap" music, whose violent history" are sad because it implies that Rap music which is mostly made by Black artists causes as much violence as Rap Brown the man. Are we to assume that Rock music is also violent since it was also started by Blacks?... Al-Amin did have proof of insurance for the vehicle he was driving in 1999 but was not allowed to get it and he was really deputised as a Sheriff in his county. The badge was real! He was also arrested twice in 1994 by the FBI after the first World Trade Center bombings. He was never charged with anything and held against his will twice. Lastly, his arrest and imprisonment in 1971 for shooting two Police officers in a mid-town lounge were later discovered to be in responce to illegal activities many police officers were having with drug dealers in that specific lounge. FBI reports have proven this to be true. This is why he was freed after only a few years in prison. Jamil Al-Amin might be in prison today but this does not mean he is guilty. It means that there are many women and men in our prison system who are innocent but couldnt afford to pay for a fair trial. ... Sincerely Sandy Lazzar
