If only the gov't had consulted you first...

Dr. Pipes,

You have a wealth of data about Iraqis' psyche. I wish that the US had consulted with you before invading Iraq so that at least they could have prepared better.

As a good citizen, perhaps in the future, you could guide and enlighten the adminstration and the entire world to this matter.

But please do not wait to predict events until after they happen.

In reading the CNN article titled "U.S.: We didn't anticipate looting", an DOD official was quoted saying that ""The U.S. has a relatively small number of forces in Baghdad for the size of the city but they are now beginning to exert more control and are working with Iraqi police to try to minimize lawlessness."".

Many questions came to me: Did the US have prior knowledge that Saddam was not going to put up a fight in Baghdad so that they therefore sent only the minimum required forces to deal with skirmishes hear and there?

While the invading US forces were incapable of dealing with looters, what would the US forces have done had Saddam decided to put up a fight in Baghdad?
