The Institute for PeaceReader comment on item: Where's the Muslim Debate? Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), May 22, 2003 at 22:53 In light of the recent terrorist attacks by the homicidal lunatics of the religion of peace, there have been no official denunciations, statements, full page letters in the newspapers containing the names of Islamic organizations i.e. CAIR and individual Muslims taking a stand against the latest Al Quaeda tape calling for the death of Americans and Jews and promising great attacks within the next few days. The American Muslim community is again silent. There are no voices in America by the mullahs in the mosques counseling their congregations against the use of terror. The only issue raised by CAIR is America's violation of Islamic rights, Islamic and Palestinian suffering and the denunciation of everything Israeli. I have never heard one Islamic lobby ever address what was good for America. The religion of peace strikes again and the silence of the Islamic community bespeaks a passive complicity. Dr. Pipes' is a brilliant scholar, a university professor, an author and journalist on Mid-Eastern affairs. His presence at the Institute is not only deserved but critical to the ligitimacy of the organization. Further to this, everyone who cares about America, the truth, open debate and freedom of thought ought to contact (e-mail or phone) the President, their senators and representatives and urge them to approve Dr. Pipes' nomination. If we do nothing so will the politicians. This is the time to take a stand against those who would silence one of the most courageous and gifted thinkers of our time.
