It should only happen...Reader comment on item: Where's the Muslim Debate? Submitted by Gerald Kreaden (United States), May 23, 2003 at 19:54 Mr. Haqqani's thinking as outlined in this article, is what all North Americans are questioning. Where are the American/Canadian Muslim Leaders' in speaking out against the acts that are being committed in the name of Islam ??Whether it is an ignorance, of how to get their message out in public, I do not think that is the case. They certainly know how to spread their hate messages around freely. The problem is, as I see it, is a reluctance to buck the current trend of "Hate the Infidels" being espoused by the Mullahs, both abroad, and here in North America. Given the history of what happens to those Muslims that do speak out against the Extremist views, I can understand their reluctance to speak up. Until the North American leaders' of the Muslim communities gather up their courage to question the perceived Leaders of the Muslim Faithful, I can't see any changes taking place in their communities, to return to their normal way of living in our society.
