Turkish military: 700 years of genocide , oppression and liesReader comment on item: A Million Moderate Muslims on the March Submitted by Ianus (Poland), May 10, 2007 at 20:43 Uluc wrote : > MelM, you're right. I would add that the Turkish army not only protects Turkiye's freedoms but also indirectly prevents monarchists/fascists from taking power in Greece. That's a new theory never heard of either in Greece or elswhere outside Turkey ! Had it not been for the permanent threat of Turkey Greece and Southern Cyprus would have known how to spend their limited resources much better than on military expenditures to be ready any moment for horrors of another Turkish invasion. You mistake cause for effect , ... and make of a wolf a sheep to please the supremacist nomadic ideology brain-washed into your head at your pseudo-secular madrassa . > The last two times (1922 and 1973) the Greeks flirted with monarchy and fascism and tried to genocide the Turks of Anatolia and Cyprus respectively, As you write it : they only "TRIED" , you "GENOCIDED" . The difference is imperceptible to your Moslem eye, isn't it ? > their military suffered humiliating defeats at the hands of the Turkish army, "Turkish" ? Come on ! It was one of the best Soviet generals Mikhail Frunze , now the honorary citizen of Turkey , that elaborated the plans of the Turkish offensive and it was Lenin's machine guns and ammunitions and gold that saved the moribund oriental Turkish tyranny from being relegated into the dustbin of history where it belongs . It was the unholy alliance of the Bolsheviks and the Kemalists that led to the genocide of Smyrna . In 1974 it was Kissinger's cover-up , deception and blackmail game against the Greeks and the American napalm, bombs and tanks the Turksih militarists were using that crushed the small heroic Cypriote National Guard. I wish you had faced the Greek army in the field at that time ! Now you station permanently more than 30 000 soldiers armed to the teeth to intimidate a small truncated island army of 12 000 soldiers ! You're too cowardly to face a numerically equal enemy ! You massacred the same way the Kurds . Good Kemalist tradition of slaughtering unarmed civilians and smashing an inferior enemy with overwhelming masses of soldiers and armour ! > resulting in the overthrow of the Greek monarchy and the fascist junta. How many coups d'etats have your brave post-Ottoman army staged ever since Mustafa Kemal Pasha rebelled against his commander-in-chief the sultan-caliph ? I can tell you - at least three times , if your memory fails you . The most brutal and feared force in the country has acted always to save "democracy" , always in the name of "law and order" ... a la turque ! > It's an experience Greeks would not like to repeat, one hopes. All nations that have ever had anything to do with Turks ( including Moslems ) know that it is impossible to live with Turks in peace. Ask the Bulgarians , the Serbs, the Syrians , the Arabs , the Armenians , the Kurds . All hate the Turks for what they have done to them - genocide , oppression , lies and terror and intimidation and total barbarity . (Up into the 19th century "Turk" was used even in Anatolia as a mocking name for an "illiterate" , "boor" .) And it was the military that has always been the bringer and the gurantee of that dismal state of affairs - everywhere and always in theTurkish history until now ! > As much as they'd like to deny it , the Greeks have the Turkish military to thank for *their* republic as well. :) Among the usual lies the Turks spread about the past there is e.g. this one that "in fact" the Greek culture has been "saved" (again!) by the Ottoman invasion of Greece and Cyprus in the 14th and 16th c. respectively , because the Turks "liberated" the Greeks from the Franks who had de-Hellenized the Greeks. If the Greeks dare think otherwise , they are wicked , unjust , ungrateful to their Moslem "saviours", which justifies anger and brutality with which the Turks treat their former human cattle ("raya" means "cattle"). The historical truth is such that Greece had many enemies in its history but none of them has done more irreparable evil and more damage to Hellenism than the Turks - beginning from the battle of Mazikert in 1071 until now. The Turks have surpassed all the barbarians the Greeks have ever confronted ! The Greeks had been living for more than 3000 years in Asia Minor. They survived all invasions , all oppressors , all disasters . Only one disaster they couldn't survive - the emergence of "modern ", "Westernized", "secular" Turkey ! And now a Turkish liar comes and impudently announces - just like the Ottoman propgandists before him - that Greece owes her very existence as an independent and democratic state to that genocidal , oppressive , primitive , war-mongering horde-state that exterminated her best sons and deprived her of the very cradle where she had been born and grown up in the times when Homer was singing the fate of Troy and the wanderings of Odyssey and the Ioanian philosophers were inventing science ! What do owe to Greece as civilization ? Almost all - science and culture. What do we owe to Turkey ? Nothing !!! What is more , we lost too many things cultural because of the revival of barbarity through the Turks . This would be a much better , peaceful and more civilized world if no Turks had ever left the steppes of the lower Syr-Darya and had imposed their hordes and atavistic monstrosities into the lands of the civilized by the scimitars of the Turkish military !
