The real consequence of Jihad.Reader comment on item: A Million Moderate Muslims on the March Submitted by Seamus MacNemi (United States), May 29, 2007 at 04:37 On the morning of 9-11 when I saw the planes fly into the towers, I told my mother that we were witnessing the begining of the end of Islam. As I knew the recent history of the Middle East and the variety of players that have taken center stage I could see an inevitable unrolling of the events which could lead only to one conclusion. Islam was on a collision course with history and history would not be kind. We didn't really have to do anything except to contain the contagion of radicalism and Muslims would destroy Islam from within, which recent events have demonstrated. You see, there is a fundamental principle at work in all of this. Hate destroys the hater. That is why the Ancients taught us not to hate no matter the supposed provocation. Being the traditionalist that I am, I have always sought the wisdom of my elders when dealing with strange and unusual circumstances and their words spoken in my dreams have always guided me through the maze of life in this world. I have always considered myself fortunate to have a solid tradition to fall back upon in times of trial and difficulty. My principle mentor, the master Sirhadana, once told me that men seek G-d for one of two reasons. Either they seek G-ds wisdom or they seek G-ds power. Those who seek G-ds wisdom are a blessing to the folk but those who seek G-ds power are a curse for such power is not mans to posses. I was taught to view the "Sin of Eden" as the abdication from responsibility. That G-d had intended for Adam to be a caretaker of G-ds garden and his disobedience and shame and attempt to foist off responsibility onto Eve and she in her turn to blame the serpent were seen as an example of this abdication. If Adam had been responsible as G-d would have intended he would not have allowed himself to be swayed by either Eve or by the serpent. Nobody forced Adam to disobey G-d, that was a decision he made for himself. Just as nobody forced Eve to eat the Fruit of the tree. That also was her own decision. She could have told the serpent to go fly a kite. So here we are today. We have a very grave situation before us in our world, something that could mean the absolute destruction of our civilization and way of life. Few people want to take on any real responsibility and most spend their time looking for someone else to blame. It seems that everybody is running around in a state of denial pointing a finger at "THEM" who ever "THEY" might be when what they should actually be doing is looking in the mirror. You don't have to be a bad actor on the stage of life in order to get an encore. In fact being a bad actor is the surest way to get booed off the stage. All this business of religious warefare is merely an arguement of form. It does nothing to address the matter of substance and it is substance that we should be concerned with and not form. It matters little in G-ds eyes whether a man is a Christian or Muslim or Jew or Buddhist or even atheist. What matters to G-d is the quality of a mans character. All this mumbo jumbo about converting to one religion or another is shere nonesense. No amount of ritual or the muttering of majic words can make a man something he is not to begin with. One of my predecessors said as much to Pope Gregory and for his pains he was burned at the stake as a heretic. So much for truth in a world based in excuses and the abdication of responsibility. Ah, but where does that leave us? Tell me, Where do you want to be? Are you willing to take the first step in that direction? All that is really required of any of you is that you put aside your illusions and look at the world as it truly is. That's simple enough to talk about but it seems that it is very difficult for any one to do. At least few people seem capable of doing so. The evil that infects our world exists only in the minds of men and it is through the actions of men that evil is manifest in our world. If we know that to be true then we have only one choice to make in our lives and that is not to allow evil thoughts to infect our thinking. Hate is an evil thought. Think about that.
