Western Strategy fighting IslamismReader comment on item: Preface Submitted by Janusz Kowalik (United States), Nov 22, 2007 at 17:28 Dr.PIpes is perfectly correct suggesting that the West should crush Islamism and encourage moderate Islam. This strategy is not easy to implement since Islamism and Islam as a religion are closely intertwined . Of course any Musim voices of moderation woulkd be very helpful but we should not deceive ourselves .At least now there is no any significant attempt on the Muslim side to revise Muslim religion and its cut off its combative branches. After the military success in Afganistan fighting Red Army many Musim leaders concluded that the time has come to get the world. The West should not dismiss any opportunity for supporting moderate Muslims but our main weapon is as a show of unity and strength.Too much discussion may be interpreted as a weakness.
