Freedom of Speech about IslamReader comment on item: Preface Submitted by David (United States), Nov 22, 2007 at 19:34 I am from the Middle East and studied Islam in its Arabic original language. I believe that it is possible to reform Muslim culture, but not Islam. To reform Islam, you need to cancel most of the Quran and the Hadith, which is impossible to do and remain a Muslim. On another note, I worry about the freedom of speech in the West. I do teach about Islam and I am critical of the religion, and sometime I fear legal backlash. This should not be happening in the "Free West". I speak mainly in Churches and I am amaized how political correctiness is taking over some churches. For example, you don't find a church that brings a Mormon or a member from other groups that are considered cult by mainstream Christians to speak about how great their religion is. I believe that it is this way because of ignorance or fear. I believe that Islam should be discussed freely with any fear of legal or even physical retaliation. Please forgive my spelling and gramatic mistakes, english in not my mother language (Arabic is)
