Read Steven Stotsky's article, "Will Massive Infusions of Aid Rescue the Palestinian Economy?"Reader comment on item: Fund the Palestinians? Bad Idea Submitted by DrRJP (United States), Dec 20, 2007 at 17:37 Amazing, Daniel. Just three days ago I was reading Steven Stotsky's article, "Will Massive Infusions of Aid Rescue the Palestinian Economy?" on CAMERA where he shows the relationship between the Palestinian economy and forgeign aid. It basically shows that every time the Palestinians get a massive donation of aid, their economy tanks. According to Stotsky, the reason this happens is because people receiving welfare are subsequently less likely to want to work for it. The Palestinians occupy the world's largest welfare state and as the amount of aid dumped into the Palestinians money continues to grow, more of it is embezzled and diverted to terrorist opperations. Groups like Islamic Jihad and the Al-Aksa Martyrs are not only on the PA salary payroll, they are getting paid double. In fact, thanks to some very clever cooking, all salaries paid by the PA are getting counted twice. Nobody knows where the money has gone and none at the UN seems to care. When Arafat was in power, several $billion in aid got transferred to his personal accounts. Since 1993, the total amount of all foreign aid to Palestinians, whether monetary or in goods and services, has topped $100 Billion With all that money, every single Palestinian should be living like a shiek! Yet, they are still living in "camps?" What's wrong with this picture? Even with their economy allegedly "in danger," the salaries earned by Palestinians living in Jewish territories surpasses the salaries earned by Palestinians in every other country in the Mideast. Palestinians in Gaza were ten times better off when Israel controlled the region than they are now with Hamas at the wheel. I think that evey American should be outraged! They should tell the Bush Administration to stop demanding that Israel participate in any more phony "peace talks" and should stop sending any monetary aid to Palestinians, period! Even if they were given $200 billion, they would never use it to build a viable state. Since neither the Palestinians nor the participating Arab countries will ever accept the existence of Israel as a Jewish state, we need to stop our government from tossing $1/2 billion more into the Palestinian money pit. No matter how much money they receive, Palestinians will still be living in refugee camps, and their associated terrorist groups will continue to arm themselves to the teeth in preparation for another unprovoked war on Israel. To paraphrase on old saying: "If you give a Palestinian a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach him how to fish, he will fire rockets into Israel, and then demand more fish."
