Ahmad: Do a reality check on Islamic history form original Muslim sources, not latter day Maulana history

Ahamad,

The simple answer when you study history is not what you claim for Islam. The answer is that Islam has one of the worst records of treating non-Muslims and Muslims (those declared heretics by the powers that be). You have just made a claim without substantiating it. Have you heard of Buddhism, one of the major religions of the world. How does it compare with Islam in treating minorities. Christians have a bad record but the difference with Islam is that their atrocities were against the teachings of Christ so Christians can rightfully claim that the crimes cannot be attributed to Jesus.

Now let us take a look at the Koran and see what it teaches.

9:123 Oh you who believe. Murder those of the disbelievers and let them find harshness in you

3:85 Whoso desires another religion than Islam, it shall not be accepted of him.

Do you need context to understand the import of these two verses? If you use context to white wash such verses then you are denying that the Koran is an eternal message applicable for all time and places. Can you claim, as Muslims ashamed of the actions of their fellow believers insist, that Islam cannot be blamed for the atrocities committed by its adherents??

You claim the evidence is overwhelming in the direction of Muslims treating minorities well. The maulanas who told you this were not being entirely truthful. Muslim historians have recorded with great glee the devastation wrecked by the Muslims in countries they invaded. I can dig out some of the stuff they wrote about their conquering heroes if you insist.

And you are right, us infidels will pee in our pants when we hear that terror inspiring word SHARIA because we know it means chopping off of hands for minor thefts, stoning to death for consensual sex, vanquished infidels like us being sold into slavery and our wives and daughters made into concubines or worse. So what did you expect? That we would only break into a sweat on hearing SHARIA? You can bet we will oppose SHARIA with our lives.

Ahmad you claim minorities (and that would only be people of the Book) had to pay less tax than Muslims. Please give us your justification for that claim.

You opened a can of worms by quoting that story about the 3^rd khalifa. Let me quote a hadith by Bukhari about the 4^th khalifa.

Volume 5, Book 59, Number 637: Narrated Buraida:

The Prophet sent 'Ali to Khalid to bring the Khumus (of the booty) and I hated Ali, and 'Ali had taken a bath (after a sexual act with a slave-girl from the Khumus). I said to Khalid, "Don't you see this (i.e. Ali)?" When we reached the Prophet I mentioned that to him. He said, "O Buraida! Do you hate Ali?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Do you hate him, for he deserves more than that from the Khumlus."

Your rightly guided Ali raped a captured girl. Your prophet says he deserved more than that from the booty!! Can you deny that Ali was acting against the guidance of his father-in-law, the Prophet of Islam? Such nice people you Muslims have as exemplars to follow!
