Political agreement, not principled agreementReader comment on item: John Hagee, the Holocaust, and Me: Thinking about Allies Submitted by Gestell (United States), Jun 8, 2008 at 20:41 Daniel Pipes can agree with Rev. Hagee because Hagee supports Israel and helps Jews. However, at the level of fundamental principles, surely Pipes must reject Hagee. Hagee's take on the Holocaust may be compatible with some ways Jews may have of understanding the relation of God to His people, but it is also as vile as any Nazi propaganda I have ever read. Politics makes strange bedfellows, as the cliche has it, and certainly Pipes and Hagee are an odd couple. Hagee's fondness for Israel appears to stem from his belief in the place of Israel as a backdrop for the End of Days. I sincerely hope that Pipes does not confuse this with genuine regard for Jews or Israel. It is not...
