Unbalanced attitudeReader comment on item: The United States Government, Still the Patron of Islam Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jul 19, 2008 at 08:21 The problem with the "pandering to Islam" behaviour is that it is totally unbalanced compared to the lashing out at Christianity and Judaism, which seems to be the popular sport of the day. The scales have tipped in Islam's favour, although unfairly. When I read the comments made by John Campbell, Jeffrey Hammond and Karen Hughes, a queasy feeling swept over me, sick at the molly-coddling that Islam has been awarded since 9/11/2001. It is a fact that the attacks on the US were perpetrated by believers of Islam, although in its radical form. In plain terms, they believed that they were right, regardless of their warped interpretation of their own religion. Political and religious correctness has turned people into wimps, afraid to speak the truth. It would be refreshing to witness a Muslim kissing a Bible and Torah, apologising for not allowing these books into Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries. Someday perhaps all the misdirected praise for this "religion of peace" will fade away, and what is left will be the fragments of truth----the embellishments having fallen off the facade and the bare facts revealed. Coming to terms with any religion is a stark reminder that the word "religion" is man-made and that ultimately, belief in God is still the greatest controversy in the world.
