Terror suppotrers Thrive on Florida CampusReader comment on item: Hamas in Florida Classroom Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), Jan 28, 2004 at 02:02 Not only does the terrorist supporter, Mutsafa Abu Sway, teach at Florida Atlantic University, his classes were promoted. How any parent would allow their child to go school where terrorism promoting faculty thrives and brain washes their children with lies and hatred is beyond my comprehension.Florida Atlantic University enjoys a tax-exempt status (there is no such thing of course, we, the people pay its taxes) while it violates all of the provisions of its agreement with the United States government in order to gain this status. Tax-exemption requires, specifically of schools and states the following: TITLE 26--INTERNAL REVENUE CODE Sec. 501. Exemption from tax on corporations, certain trusts, etc. (c) List of exempt organizations (3) Corporations, and any community chest, fund, or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, or educational purposes, or to foster national or international amateur sports competition (but only if no part of its activities involve the provision of athletic facilities or equipment), or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals, no part of the net earnings of which inures to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual, no substantial part of the activities of which is carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting, to influence legislation (except as otherwise provided in subsection (h)), and which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office. By law, the 501c3 church may not: preach politically incorrect sermons (propaganda) influence legislation participate in political action endorse candidates oppose candidates publish or distribute political positions Please access the following website and go to p. 21 for the complete IRS regulations regarding tax exemption: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p557.pdf Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
