Jewish Palestine vs. Islamic SpainReader comment on item: Jerusalem Falls to British, "Great Rejoicing in the Christian World" Submitted by Sunil Sarang (United States), Apr 6, 2009 at 01:08 Dear Mr. Pipes: Thanks for publishing this article. A lot of us (even those who are not jews) do not understand the angst of the Palestinian muslims over the existence of Israel in the middle east. The entire world knows that jewish people reached Jerusalem before Christians and Muslims (you cannot get anywhere until you are born!). Jews lived in Israel for many centuries before Christianity or Islam reached there. So what is the cause of concern. If muslims can stake a claim on Spain as islamic Spain that they won in a violent war, Jews can surely stake a claim on the land of Israel which in some sense was born because of them. Creation of Israel was nothing but the liberation of a long lost land. Hundreds of years from today when Jewish religion becomes the fastest growing religion of the world a new history might be written. In this history the historians will fondly remember today's Israel as a nation that contributed enormously to science, technology, mathematics, medicine and human thought. It will also be discussed that inspite of relentless pursuit by Muslims for over half a century, Israel maintained a democratic character and in the land of Israel immigrants from all over the world lived in peace. What do you think Dr Pipes? Don't I make sense. Sunil Submitting....
