Anti-Christian bookReader comment on item: A CAIR Miscellany Submitted by arkletten (United Kingdom), May 22, 2009 at 10:22 Thanks for the alert. The guy who wrote this book, Let the Bible Speak, is (or at least was, in 2007) the imam at the Edinburgh Central Mosque in Potterow, Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a Syrian-born, Saudi-trained Wahabbi. He was involved in Quranica, an Islamic 'arts organisation' that gets British state funding to put on Quranic recitation events as part of what are (on the Islamic side) a da'wa mission at the Edinburgh International Festival but from the UK side are seen as cultural events aimed at cross-cultural exchange and better understanding. I spoke at length to him in 2007. I wasn't taken in by him, I wanted to suss him out, and let him do the talking. He was very charming and flattering but it is clear to me that this mosque is trying to undermine Christianity in a big way. For instance, in addition to this regular month long 'exhibition' event with 'recitals' etc., during August, there is the year round restaurant serving cheap curries that lures in students from the nearby Edinburgh University campus. They also put on talks by hardliners who are converts from Christianity to Islam, like Idris Tawfiq, a renegade RC priest, and a guy called Green.
